Living on a Solheim Cup Course: Properties for Sale at Finca Cortesín Golf

Stand on the tee in the early morning and the coast lies below you: wide fairways in that deep Bermuda green, bunkers of almost white sand, the Sierra Bermeja behind your shoulder and the Mediterranean shining through the pines. This is the course that brought the Solheim Cup to Spain for the first time, and it sits in the hills of Casares, ten minutes from Estepona. If you want to buy a home here, this page starts with the properties for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf: nineteen new developments within a kilometre, from about 489,000 euros, each with the measured metres to the course.
I moved to Estepona from Germany, and since 2019 I have accompanied buyers along this stretch of coast between Sotogrande and Marbella. Finca Cortesín Golf is the address that golfers ask about first, and the question that follows is always the same: can I live here? You can. This guide shows what makes the course special, and then every one of the properties for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf that stands within walking distance of the fairways, measured in metres rather than in adjectives.
The properties for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf, by the metre
Our own measurement of 14 October 2026 counts 19 new developments within one kilometre of the course boundary, thirteen of them within 300 metres and four inside the grounds themselves. That is the densest cluster of new building around any single course on this coast, and it covers a remarkable range: the apartments for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf start in the high three hundred thousands, houses and townhouses sit in the low millions, and the villas for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf reach beyond five million.
The distances below come from the course outline, not from a brochure. Where one of the new developments at Finca Cortesín Golf stands inside the course grounds, it says so; everything else is measured to the nearest edge of the fairways.

35 Luxury Villas · Houses

The four developments inside the grounds are the rarest address of the lot, because the walk to the first tee takes a few minutes and the course is the view from the terrace. One is a villa project on its own plots, one a larger collection of houses on the slope above the fairways, one an apartment project with an indoor pool, and one sells building plots for a villa of your own design. Everything else in the list is a short stroll or a two-minute drive away, close enough that the clubhouse becomes your local.
Which of them suits you depends less on the budget than on the kind of day you want. An apartment with a shared pool and a lift down to the garage is the easy second home, ready to lock up and leave. A villa on the course gives you the garden, the privacy and the view down the fairway, and asks for a gardener and a pool service in return. I walk both with my buyers, usually on the same morning, because the difference becomes obvious once you stand on the terrace. Whatever the budget, the properties for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf are worth seeing together rather than one at a time: the differences between them only show up side by side.
Beyond the one-kilometre circle another thirteen projects stand within 1.5 kilometres, and the wider choice in the two municipalities is listed under new developments in Casares and new developments in Estepona.
Finca Cortesín Golf brought the Solheim Cup to Spain
No other course between Sotogrande and Marbella has a tournament record like this one. The course opened in 2006 on an estate of around 532 acres in the hills between Marbella and Sotogrande, drawn by the American course architect Cabell B. Robinson, who had already shaped several of the best-known layouts on this coast.
It hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championship three times, in 2009, 2011 and 2012, and in September 2023 the Solheim Cup, the match between Europe and the United States, came to Spain for the first time and was played here. In the Golf World rankings of 2025 the course stands tenth in Spain and sixty-second in continental Europe.

How Finca Cortesín Golf plays: 6,802 metres, five par 3s and five par 5s
From the back tees this is one of the longest championship layouts in Spain, and from the forward tees it is a friendly resort course. The card reads 6,802 metres from the back, 5,884 from the club tees and 4,852 from the front, always par 72, so the same eighteen holes work for a scratch player and for someone who took up the game at sixty.
The ground moves constantly. Fairways roll through open parkland and stands of mature trees, two ponds and a series of ditches cross the line of play, and the bunkers are filled with that bright, almost white sand which makes the course so recognisable in photographs. Five par 3s and five par 5s give the round an unusual rhythm: you are rarely playing the same shot twice.
- Greens: the club was first in Spain to put a new, water-saving variety of Bermuda grass on all of its greens, which holds its colour and its pace through the warm months.
- Practice: the range and the short-game area are rated excellent, and the Jack Nicklaus Academy on site runs intensive coaching with its own professionals.
- Green fees: recently published between roughly 385 and 460 euros for the eighteen holes depending on the season, buggy included.
- Playing year: the coast gives you golf in every month, and the long shadows and quiet tee sheets of January are often the best of it.
- Pace: the course belongs to a resort rather than to a busy public club, so rounds move and the practice ground stays calm.
If you want to compare it with the other courses on this coast before you choose a home, the new developments on the golf courses between Sotogrande and Marbella are collected on their own page, each with the distance to its nearest course.
Four 18-hole courses within three kilometres of Finca Cortesín Golf
The address gives you more than one course: three further 18-hole layouts start within three kilometres. We measured them boundary to boundary from the outlines of every course on this coast, starting at the edge of Finca Cortesín Golf, so these are real distances across the ground and not driving times.
- Estepona Golf, 1.2 km: the long-established course above Arroyo Vaquero, popular and good value, with sea views from most of the back nine.
- Doña Julia Golf Club, 1.6 km: a scenic layout that drops towards the coast, lovely in the cooler months and easy to walk.
- Azata Golf, 2.8 km: a modern, wide course on the Estepona side, the one I suggest for a relaxed afternoon eighteen.
- Valderrama and Sotogrande, 20 minutes west: the historic clubs of San Roque are an easy morning drive for a special round.
For a golfer who plays two or three times a week, that density is the whole argument for this location. You can keep a membership at one course, play the others on green fees, and still be home for lunch on the terrace.
Living beside Finca Cortesín Golf: Casares Costa, Estepona and Sotogrande
The course sits in the hills, and the beach is two kilometres below it. That short distance is what makes the location work all year: morning golf in the cool air, lunch at the beach, and in the evening the lights of the coast road curving east towards Estepona.
The golden sand of Casares Costa is the nearest beach, with chiringuitos that stay open into October. The marina of Puerto de la Duquesa, with its restaurants around the water, is about ten minutes away, and so is Estepona old town with its painted flowerpot streets, its Sunday market and its food hall. Sotogrande, with the international school, the polo fields and the historic clubs, lies around 15 kilometres west. Gibraltar airport is roughly 35 kilometres away for the short flights, Málaga 91 kilometres for everything else.
The golf year here runs the other way round to the one you may be used to. Autumn and spring are the high season on the tee sheets, when the grass is perfect and the air sits in the low twenties; in midwinter you play in a sweater at nine and in shirtsleeves by eleven, and the courses are quiet. July and August belong to the beach and to early tee times before the heat, which is also when the holiday rental market pays best. For an owner who plays, that rhythm is worth more than any single statistic: the months when northern Europe puts the clubs away are the months this hillside is at its best.
Daily life is closer than the quiet suggests: supermarkets, pharmacies and the petrol station are a few minutes by car, and the A-7 coast road is three and a half kilometres from the course. What you will not find here is noise. This is a hillside of gardens, golf and birdsong, which is exactly why people choose it.
What the properties for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf cost
The homes for sale near Finca Cortesín Golf are priced above the coastal average, and the figures show by how much. On our own survey of 14 October 2026 the New Build median in Casares stood at 6,455 euros per square metre, across 39 projects and 301 units. In Estepona, a few minutes east and the largest new-build market on the coast, the median was 5,118 euros across 153 projects and 1,069 units. Both figures are asking prices for all property types, from apartments to villas.
The neighbourhood around the courses has moved a long way. For Casares Golf and Casares del Sol, the public price index recorded 3,513 euros per square metre for existing homes in September 2026, 9.1% above the same month a year earlier and 108.3% above the level of five years ago, an average of 15.8% a year. Those are past figures for resale homes in the neighbourhood, and they say nothing about any single development, but they do show how the area has been valued. Buying new here costs more per square metre than buying second-hand, and in return you get current energy standards, the ten-year structural warranty and nothing to renovate; most of the properties for sale at Finca Cortesín Golf are new builds for exactly that reason.
Many buyers here let the house to holiday guests in the weeks they are away, and golf is one of the reasons the season is long. Our own analysis of all whole homes let to holiday guests in the municipality of Casares, over the 36 months to August 2026, measured 160 euros a night typically and 210 euros in the upper quarter, with occupancy between 31% and 54% over the year and 50% to 77% in summer, from 408 active holiday homes. Across a full year that works out at 20,024 to 36,507 euros of revenue for a home let all year round. Those are measured figures for comparable homes in the neighbourhood, not a promise for a particular apartment, and how they fit into a wider plan is set out in my guide to investing in Spanish property.

The honest way to decide is to play eighteen holes and then walk three terraces. A round here tells you whether the course is your kind of golf; an hour on the terraces of the developments beside it tells you where you would want to wake up. I arrange both in one visit, including the tee time, and I come with you to the viewings.
Bring your questions about the community fees, the handover dates and the resident rates at the clubs, and bring your handicap. You can buy off-plan and choose the floor and the finishes, or buy a home that is ready to move into; both are for sale beside the course today. Two or three days are usually enough to know, and from there the reservation, the contract and the build follow a clear path. An overview of how buying new works on this coast is in my guide to new developments on the Costa del Sol.
