The Last Course Javier Arana Drew: Properties for Sale at Aloha Golf

Javier Arana built ten golf courses, all of them in Spain, and he did not live to see the last one open. He died in 1975 at the age of seventy, a few months before Aloha was inaugurated in the valley behind Puerto Banús. If you want to buy here, this page starts with the properties for sale at Aloha Golf: two new developments within a kilometre, from about 785,000 euros, each with the measured metres to the course.
I live in Estepona and have accompanied buyers along this coast since 2019. Nueva Andalucía is the most famous golf address in the country, and Aloha is its quiet aristocrat: no tournament circus, no hotel, just a parkland course that has been in good hands for fifty years. The properties for sale at Aloha Golf are few, and they carry the valley's prices.
The properties for sale at Aloha Golf, by the metre
Our own measurement of 15 October 2026 counts two new developments within a kilometre of the course, the nearest 46 metres from the boundary, and four within 1.5 kilometres. The apartments for sale at Aloha Golf start at about 785,000 euros, and the villas for sale at Aloha Golf reach 5.78 million.
The distances below are measured to the edge of this course rather than to whichever one is nearest, so the figures tell you exactly how far the first tee is — and in this valley, 1.2 kilometres is a ten-minute walk through residential streets rather than a drive.
New developments near Aloha Golf

Supply in the valley is tight and has been for years, so the new developments at Aloha Golf and around it are small: a dozen to thirty homes on a single released plot, with a pool, a gym and underground parking. They sell early, often before the structure is finished, and the ones with the long views over the course go first.
The age of the surrounding buildings is the other thing that separates the properties for sale at Aloha Golf from one another. The valley filled up in waves — the seventies around the first courses, the nineties along the main roads, the last ten years on the remaining plots — and the three generations sit side by side. A new building between seventies villas has space and trees around it; one in a newer cluster has neighbours at the same height and a shorter view. Neither is wrong, but the price per square metre rarely tells you which you are getting.
Two things are worth checking before reserving. The first is what the terrace actually faces, because in a valley this dense the difference between a fairway view and a neighbour's roof is one floor. The second is the plot next door: land here is released piece by piece, and what is a quiet slope today may be a site in eighteen months. I look both up before anyone signs.
The wider choice in the municipality is listed under new developments in Marbella, and the neighbouring courses are covered in the guides to Los Naranjos and La Quinta.
Aloha Golf was Javier Arana's final design
Arana was Spain's first golf architect, and Aloha closed a body of work that includes Guadalmina, Río Real, Club de Campo in Madrid and El Saler. Seven of his ten courses still rank in the Spanish top hundred. This one opened in 1975, months after his death, and it has the qualities his courses are known for: generous shapes, natural routing, and difficulty that comes from angles rather than from punishment.
It plays to par 72 over 6,293 metres in parkland style, on ground that rolls gently and carries several lakes. The planting is the other signature — dense, varied and in flower through most of the year, which is why photographs of this course look different from every other layout in the valley. International professional tournaments have been played here, among them the women's Spanish Open.

Fifty years of growth have done the rest. The trees that were saplings when the course opened are now the frame of every hole, the lakes have settled into the landscape, and the members have had half a century to decide what works. A course of this age is a finished thing in a way a new one cannot be, and that is a quality you buy into when you buy a home on its edge.
There is a practical side to an Arana course that matters to anyone buying a home beside one. His layouts were drawn before the age of the bulldozer, so they follow the natural ground, which means the holes sit lower than the land around them. Homes on the slopes above look down onto the course rather than across it — the best views in the valley are on these streets, and that is no accident.
How Aloha Golf fits into the week
The valley works as a small town with four golf courses in it. Nothing takes more than ten minutes, and almost nothing requires the coast road.
- Four courses within two kilometres: Aloha, Las Brisas, Los Naranjos and La Dama de Noche.
- Golf after dinner: La Dama de Noche, nine hundred metres away, is floodlit into the evening.
- Puerto Banús: ten minutes south for the marina, the restaurants and the beach clubs.
- San Pedro de Alcántara: five minutes west for the high street, the hospital and the boulevard.
- Playing year: golf in every month, with the valley sheltered from the worst of the wind.
If you want to compare it with the other courses on this coast before you choose a home, the new developments on the golf courses between Sotogrande and Marbella are collected on their own page, each with the distance to its nearest course.
Three more courses within two kilometres of Aloha Golf
This is the heart of the golf valley. We measured boundary to boundary from the outlines of every course on this coast, so these are real distances across the ground and not driving times.
- La Dama de Noche, about 920 m: the floodlit course, nine holes under lights.
- Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, about 975 m: a Robert Trent Jones design and one of the most decorated courses in Spain.
- Los Naranjos, about 1.3 km: Trent Jones again, with the back nine through the orange groves.
- Magna Marbella 1.8 km and La Quinta about 2.5 km: the hillside courses above the valley.
Five full-length courses and one floodlit nine inside a three-kilometre circle: no other golf address in Spain packs this much into a valley you can cross on a bicycle.
Living beside Aloha Golf: Nueva Andalucía, the market and the marina
The valley has become a town in its own right. Supermarkets, schools, a dozen restaurants, padel courts and the Saturday market around the bullring: almost nothing here requires a drive to Marbella.
What the valley does not have is a seafront. The beach is ten minutes away by car, down past the marina, which is the one compromise this address asks for. In exchange you get quiet nights, mountain air that is noticeably cooler in August, and a level of green that no beachfront urbanisation on this coast can match. Most owners here consider that a good trade; the ones who do not usually end up buying in Guadalmina or Los Monteros instead.
Puerto Banús is ten minutes south — the marina, the beach clubs and the shopping — and San Pedro de Alcántara five minutes west, with the hospital, the high street and the boulevard built over the old motorway. Marbella old town is twenty minutes east along the coast, and the international schools of the western coast are all within a quarter of an hour.
Málaga airport is about 60 kilometres east and Gibraltar about 70 west. This is the address that international buyers name first when they say Marbella golf, and the homes for sale near Aloha Golf are priced on exactly that reputation.
What the properties for sale at Aloha Golf cost
Nueva Andalucía sits at the top of our price range, and it has stayed there through every cycle. The public price index recorded 6,169 euros per square metre for existing homes in the valley in September 2026, 3.5% above the same month a year earlier and 69.3% above the level of five years ago. Our own survey of 14 October 2026 put the New Build median at 7,960 euros per square metre in Marbella, across 99 projects and 335 units.
Against that, Estepona stood at 5,118 euros and Benahavís at 6,709. On a budget of a million, that is roughly 126 square metres here against about 195 at the western end of our area. The valley is worth its premium to the people who want it; it is simply worth knowing what the premium is before you look at the properties for sale at Aloha Golf and fall for the first terrace.
Holiday letting earns at the top of our range in Marbella. Our own analysis of all whole homes let to holiday guests in the municipality, over the 36 months to August 2026, measured 208 euros a night typically and 325 euros in the upper quarter, with occupancy between 38% and 63% over the year, from 5,166 active holiday homes. Across a full year that works out at 32,769 to 56,828 euros of revenue for a home let all year round. Measured against valley prices the yield is modest, and most buyers here are choosing a home rather than an investment. Those are measured figures for comparable homes in the neighbourhood, not a promise for a particular property, and how they fit into a wider plan is set out in my guide to investing in Spanish property.
See the properties for sale at Aloha Golf on one morning
Eighteen holes among the lakes, then whatever the valley has. Supply is small, so the morning is about judging one or two homes properly rather than racing through ten, and the walk between them is short enough to do on foot. You can buy off-plan and choose the finishes, or buy a home that is ready to move into; both come up here, just rarely at the same time.
Two days are plenty. One morning for the course and the homes, one for the valley itself: the Saturday market, a coffee at a clubhouse that is not the one you played, and the ten-minute drive down to Banus so you know what the evening looks like. That is usually enough to tell whether this valley is the place you want to wake up in for the next twenty years.
Bring your questions about community fees, what the terrace faces and what is planned on the plot next door. And if the golf matters more than the postcode, say so — the same money buys a great deal more beside the courses twenty minutes west, and I will show you both. An overview of how buying new works on this coast is in my guide to new developments on the Costa del Sol.
